Membership and Guests
Shareholders of the Valley Pond Corporation may become summer members of the pond, which entitles them and their registered household members to unlimited use of the pond and its facilities, bring guests during the summer season, and register for parties after they've paid annual dues each spring. Shareholders who elect not to pay annual membership fees are entitled to three free visits per season. See Rules and Policies for details.
Becoming a shareholder
Each year, the Valley Pond board invites 10-20 people from the waiting list to become shareholders in the Valley Pond Corporation. This involves purchasing a share and paying a one-time, non-refundable membership fee. Currently the membership fee is $2,500 and the share price is also $2,500 for a total of $5,000, payable by check. Shares are not transferable (except to adult children for a fee) and may be redeemed only by the Corporation for the original share price.
Shareholders may go to our Summer Registration Form to register household members each spring. The registration fees for 2020 are unchanged from 2019 and are as follows:
$300 for the first household member, plus
$215 for the next household member, plus
$130 for each additional household member or au pair (all au pairs must be registered)
Guests must be accompanied by a member, who will be invoiced. The adult children of members may use the pond unaccompanied, but they must sign in as guests. Guest fees are as follows:
$5 per person per day Mondays through Thursdays.
$10 per person per day Fridays, Saturdays, Sundays and holidays.
To discourage overcrowding, guest fees double beginning with the member's 26th guest of the season unless the shareholder has two fully paid memberships.
A group of seven or more guests is considered a party and must be scheduled in advance by the member (see Party Requests).
